Hurghada
offers a superb range of shops and restaurants
– everything from the international Hard
Rock Café chain to traditional Egyptian
coffee shops.
A visit to downtown Hurghada is a must for
practising your bartering skills in the lively
bazaars. Seek out some great bargains amidst
colourful carpets, shining gold and the smell
of spices and oriental perfumes. At night time,
Hurghada really comes alive and you can choose
from a number of bars and clubs for late night
entertainment, some of which are located directly
on the beach.
Hurghada is also a great base for exploring
further afield. The nearby resorts of luxurious
El Gouna and undiscovered Safaga make for an
interesting interlude. Luxor and Cairo are both
easily accessible and make superb day trips
for those wanting to taste the real history
of ancient Egypt.
Egypt is a cultural crossroads. Combine wonderful
diving with the chance to discover the Pyramids,
see the treasures of Tutankhamen or enjoy star
watching in the desert with the Bedouin tribes.
