Discover new sites in the depths of Hurghada
Hurghada
is also home to many deep dive sites and wrecks
– many of which are only recently discovered.
The spectacular marine park surrounding the Giftun
Islands is a particular highlight of the area
and offers more than ten sites and a huge variety
of dive plans. Enjoy the rush of drift diving
amongst the spectacular gorgonian fans, or descend
deeper to the Black Canyon. This site is a firm
favourite with Tekkies and arguably one of the
best deep dives in the world.
Also situated within minutes from the centre
you will discover some of the most exciting wrecks
in the region including the new, celebrated Hebat
Allah artificial reef wreck lying at 45m. Trimix
divers will appreciate the Mobil Oil Tug Boat
at around 100m and many other wrecks that are
ideal for training dives, penetration and further
exploration.
Diving further afield
Wreck
divers are truly spoilt in Hurghada with its proximity
to the incredible Sha’ab Abu Nuhas. Situated
about halfway between Hurghada and Ras Mohammed,
this reef patch lies next to a major shipping
lane and it is home to four complete wrecks. Swim
through clouds of glassfish in the beautiful Giannis
D and the Chrisoula K, and see lionfish stalking
their prey in the dark confines of the hold.
Day trips to Sha’ab Abu Nuhas are usually
available at least once a week, weather permitting,
or why not include a mini
safari to maximise your diving time here.
As well as the northern Red Sea, mini safaris
and liveaboards are also available to sites south
of Hurghada to take in the exciting Salem Express
and the spectacular wall dives of the Safaga region.
