PADI Adventure Diver
A 1-2 day course to extend your experience
with 3 additional training dives
This course is the next step on the ladder for
those that do not want to continue straight to
the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver level. You
will take three specialty dives as part of this
course. Two are compulsory – Underwater
Navigator and Deep Diver – and the third
can be chosen from a wide selection including
Night Diver, Boat Diver, Underwater Naturalist
and many more listed below. For each option you
will need to complete a knowledge review and a
dive. This course can be credited towards your
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.

PADI Specialties

If you want to extend your skills, have
fun and gain experience in areas that interest
you then the PADI Specialty programme has
been designed just for you! You can take
many specialties directly after your Open
Water course and some more after your Advanced
course. The number of dives per Specialty
varies from between one and four and each
will therefore take between one to two days.
Specialties can be credited towards your
Advanced Open Water Diver and also towards
your Master Scuba Diver certification.
Choose from up to 20 PADI Specialty courses
including Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Underwater
Photographer, Night Diver, Peak Performance

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
Build on your Open Water skills in this
2-3 day course that includes 3 elective and 2
compulsory dives
This is a very popular course as most divers
choose to progress directly from PADI Open Water
to Advanced Open Water. Over the 2-3 days you
will complete five dives and a knowledge review
that is related to each one. Two are compulsory
disciplines - Underwater Navigator and Deep Diver.
Deep will take you to 30m and navigation extends
the knowledge of compass work beyond you learnt
in the OWC.
The three remaining disciplines can be decided
upon between you and your instructor from a wide
choice including Night Diver, Boat Diver, Underwater
Naturalist and many more listed above. There are
no exams this time - just read the relevant chapters
in the manual and complete the knowledge reviews!

PADI Rescue Diver
Go beyond the recreational and learn
valuable rescue and potentially life saving skills
in 3-4 days
This course is one of the most rewarding options
for developing your skills as a diver. Over the
duration of the course you will complete between
four and six theory sessions plus confined sessions
in the swimming pool to develop the skills necessary
before going to the open water. In the sea the
skills will be repeated as part of a final scenario
(skill performance) to put all that has been learnt
into practice. This course requires some stamina
and a level of fitness.
This course may be combined with the PADI Emergency
First Response (EFR) course below.
Student pre-requisites:
Minimum age 15
Minimum certification of PADI Advanced Open Water
Diver (or equivalent)
For certification you will require the Emergency
First Response (EFR) qualification below or proof
of another CPR first aid course within the last
2 years.

PADI Emergency First Response (EFR)
 |
A 1 day classroom course in CPR
and First Aid – for divers and non-divers
This course will teach you the skills required
to be able to handle potentially life threatening
situations. There are two core modules to
learn that will provide instruction in CPR
and First Aid techniques. This course also
includes Automated External Defibrillation
and Emergency Oxygen sessions.
EFR is a pre-requisite for completion of
the Rescue Diver course and may be taken
at the same time. |

PADI Master Scuba Diver
This is the highest non-professional
PADI qualification
Develop your skills and you can almost obtain
this diver grade by accident! To obtain this certification,
all you need to do is be certified as a PADI Rescue
Diver and have five specialty certifications.
You can then apply to PADI for your prestigious
PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

SDI Advanced Diver

A development program that aims
to make you a true ‘Advanced Diver’
This is a much more thorough course than
the PADI Advanced. The SDI Advanced Diver
Development Program requires a new OW student
to take four SDI specialties or equivalent,
along with having a total of twenty five
logged dives before being certified as an
Advanced Diver. Specialties may be chosen
from a comprehensive selection that includes
Computer Diver, Deep Diver, Drift Diver,
Underwater Photographer and Solo Diver.

SDI Rescue Diver
Typically a 4 day duration, this valuable
course teaches diver rescue techniques
This course is designed to develop the knowledge
and skills necessary for an individual to perform
diver rescues and assists. The student will learn
to deal with any situation that may arise at any
time during a diving trip from problems at the
surface, how to calm and control a panicked diver,
to leading or assisting a search and rescue of
divers and alerting the emergency services. The
course also includes how to administer first aid,
CPR and oxygen.
Student pre-requisites:
Minimum age 18 or 15 with parental consent
Minimum certification of Advanced Diver (or equivalent)
Proof of 40 logged open water dives
Current CPR and First Aid qualification

BSAC Sports Diver
This course lasts 5-6 days and will give
you a thorough grounding in advanced diving and
rescue techniques
Extend your Ocean Diver skills with the next
step on the BSAC ladder. This course includes
six theory sessions and eight ocean dives. The
syllabus covers many areas including self help,
diver rescue, underwater navigation and the use
of surface marker buoys, human life support, decompression
tables and dive computers and adventurous diving.
The dives will be conducted up to a maximum depth
of 35m.

BSAC Dive Leader
 |
A minimum 3 week period to learn
the responsibilities and safety aspects
of leading other divers on open water dives
This course is designed to develop your
skills as a Sports Diver and Dive Guide.
You will learn practical lessons in rescue
management and rescue skills to give you
the confidence and ability to deal with
any unforeseen emergencies. Leading dives
will develop your enjoyment, confidence
and experience as a diver. This course includes
both theory sessions and ocean dives within
a three week period. |
