PADI Divemaster

Your first step to a professional
diving career
This course will qualify you to organise
and conduct diving activities as a dive
guide. It covers various water and diving
skills, rescue evaluation, map making, emergency
planning and a number of theory sessions
and exams.
This course takes approximately two weeks
but to work as a Divemaster, it is recommended
that you spend at least a further two weeks
gaining further experience whilst working
with other dive guides. |

PADI EFR Instructor
This 4-5 day course qualifies you to
teach CPR and First Aid techniques
During this course you will learn how to instruct
others in all aspects of first aid, CPR, administration
of oxygen and dealing with emergencies including
breathing and non-breathing divers. This will
followed by a final exam to qualify. Please note
that this course is not a pre-requisite of the
Instructor course.

PADI Assistant Instructor
The first part of the PADI IDC or Instructor
Development Course
After qualifying and gaining experience as a
Divemaster you can start to move up the career
ladder to become a fully qualified PADI Instructor.
First step is the Assistant Instructor course
during which can take anything from a few days
to two to three weeks. This course consists of
knowledge development through self-study, quizzes,
lectures and presentations; confined water skill
review and assessment, workshops and presentations;
and open water workshops, rescue assessment and
candidate presentations.
This certification qualifies you to conduct Discover
Scuba Diving and the Peak Performance Buoyancy
Specialty and Project AWARE Specialty courses.
You can also teach academic presentations and
evaluate open water diver surface skills under
the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor.
Student pre-requisites:
Minimum certification of Divemaster
Proof of minimum 60+ logged open water dives including
night, deep and navigation dives
Certification as a diver for at least 6 months

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

Your final step to become a PADI
Instructor!
During the Instructor Development Course
(IDC), you will learn to use and adapt the
PADI system of diver education to individual
student needs. Comprehensive training, supported
by a wide variety of PADI educational materials,
will earn you respect from both students
and peers. PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors
may conduct a broad range of PADI programs
from Discover Scuba to Divemaster.
This course consists of knowledge development
through self-study, quizzes, lectures and
presentations; confined water skill review
and assessment, workshops and presentations;
and open water workshops, rescue assessment
and candidate presentations. Before you
take the final PADI Instructor Exam or IE
you must have at least 100 logged dives.
The usual timescale for the IDC is two to
three weeks. |

SDI Divemaster
Learn the skills and knowledge necessary
to competently lead certified divers in the open
water environment.
During this course you will cover all aspects
of being a dive leader above and below the water
including administrative, legal and medical matters
as well all diving procedures. A variety of knowledge
development sessions and water skill sessions
will be incorporated into the course which will
take at least two weeks to complete. A minimum
of five briefings must be conducted and four open
water dives led to varying sites and in different
environmental conditions.
You will be evaluated on the satisfactory completion
of the Divemaster written exam, the successful
completion of all water skills plus the demonstration
of a mature and sound judgement concerning dive
planning and execution.

Minimum age 18
Minimum certification of SDI Advanced Diver (must
include Deep, Navigation and Night and Limited
Visibility Specialties)
Minimum certification of Rescue Diver
Proof of minimum 40+ logged open water dives
Proof of CPR and First Aid certification
Valid medical certificate within the last 12 months

SDI Assistant Instructor
A course designed to give you
practical teaching experience
In this course the student must assist
an active instructor in all aspects of one
Open Water Scuba Diver course, four Specialty
courses and one Rescue course. He will also
assist in all administrative tasks required.
A minimum of 70 hours will be required to
complete this course with no more than 30
credited from the SDI Divemaster program. |

SDI Instructor
A course to teach current Divemasters
and Assistant Instructors the knowledge to safely
work as an independent Instructor
This course is split into two sections: an Instructor
Development Course (IDC) and an Instructor Evaluation
Course (IEC). For the IDC, the candidate must
be able to perform all skills required, to Instructor
level quality, for Divemaster and Assistant Instructor.
Once this has been completed the candidate has
6 months in which to attend an IEC. This course
will require a minimum of 100 hours. On certification
you will be qualified to teach the SDI program
from Open Water to Assistant Instructor.

Minimum age 18
Minimum certification of SDI Assistant Instructor
or Divemaster (or equivalent)
Certification as a diver for at least 6 months
Proof of minimum 100+ logged dives in different
environments with varying depths
Valid medical certificate within the last 12 months
